On June 1, contemporary artist Katie Southworth released a collection of paintings unlike any she has produced in the past. In the eight piece series, Southworth adds emphasis to her classic linear style by engaging the use of three dimensional elements for the first time in her career.
The series is, “reminiscent of life’s out of body experiences that help new dimensions of possibility, peace, and personal growth emerge,” says Southworth. Furthermore, the paintings’ exaggerated lines encourage the viewer to take a moment to look upward and embrace, as Southworth says, “the power of vertical line to lift one’s chin, spirit, heart, and mind”. The collection, of which three pieces have already sold, can be seen at Southworth’s studio in suite 412b on 450 Harrison Ave., Boston during SoWa’s open studio events or by appointment.
